Statement of the Artists, 2021

"tense" is a form of density in our time-based art, characterized by both intensity and extensity. It is about the phenomena of being within the real world, which we address across media in an abstract world of form and sound. This interaction creates "event horizons" in which opposites such as rationality and irrationality coexist and dissolve.

The Austrian art collective Parallel Media – Barbara Doser | Hofstetter Kurt in the exhibition tense_intense at the Carlo Bilotti Museum provides insights into the interweaving and simultaneity of existential opposites. In video and computer installations, paintings, photographs and sculptures, they address chaos and order, instability and stability, finitude and infinity, rationality and irrationality, to create in their dissolution what they refer to as 'event horizons'. The logic of either-or becomes cancelled out.

Barbara Doser works in the formats of video art, sculpture, painting and graphic art as well as photography. One focus is video feedback technology, which she uses to generate abstract forms in motion and motion as form. Abstractness is her passion. Themes such as the simultaneous existence of the individual and society, man and woman, and the resulting potential for conflict also become artistic-abstract metaphors.

Hofstetter Kurt is a conceptual and media artist, sound designer, and composer. Philosophical mathematics, which deals with infinities, inspires him to experiment intuitively with parallelism and circulation in his art. His work successively offers fresh explorations of elementary concepts such as Möbius-Sounds, Ambient Media Art, constructive geometries, Supersymmetrical Composition Technique, and the first aperiodic weave structure in human history with the resulting Ambient Tactile Art
